UAW chief Gettelfinger warns that one or two automakers could collapse without immediate assistance, and asks Congress not to adjourn before reaching an agreement. (WSJ)
Gettelfinger is part of the problem. In some ways, he could almost be considered the enemy because he has been able to force the auto companies to increase their expenses when they could least afford it. He sees the long term problem with raising expenses, but he continues to ask for more so that he can keep his own income high. Yes, that is the enemy.

Gettelfinger thinks more about himself and his members than he does about the country and long term affect from his actions. This type of action has hurt the U.S. and our ability to compete with others in the auto market. Yes, he is the enemy!

I am beginning to think that the big 3 have been beaten down so much over the years that they now side with the enemy. Kind of like hostages and kidnap victoms. After awhile, they side with the enemy.

Boeing Heading the Way of GM?
I totally agree with the author. The unions are going to destroy corporations in the United States unless they understand the long term effects of their demands. There is no way that companies can shoulder the costs that unions are asking and are being forced to agree to their demands or lose customers.

Yes, many CEOs are getting too much money, but that is peanuts compared to what worker costs are amounting to. When a worker retires, the costs of that person continues for another 30 - 40 years or longer. Companies just cannot afford those costs.

Boeing will ultimately die unless the workers and unions get a clue as to what they are doing. Asking and demanding job security just won't work.

Good article. Interested in MTP and would like to know what the difference is between MTP and closed end funds like KYE, TYG, etc? I read that MTP is a closed end ETF and the others are closed end funds??

Attractive Dividend Stocks in the Buy Zone
Pertaining to your comment of: "I think that now is a perfect time to start looking for bargains and then dollar cost average in them."

You make it sound like everyone has all been 100% in cash and just waiting for the perfect time to get in. I wish I could say I was that lucky, but I am not. For those of us that are not in cash, what now?

I believe that Cramer is a trader, not an investor. That is why his recommendations change as the economy and market changes. I would like to know what his investment recommendations are.

Good article, although very scary for the U.S. It would seem that this kind of info would provide ammunition for those of us who feel our energy policies are a disaster and need to drill drill drill our way out of this mess.

Crocodile Investors Smile at Bank of America
I am a novice on preferreds. When I go to Yahoo finance and enter bac.pr.j, they show no record. I tried bac-pj. It may be the preferred you mention in your article, but there isn't any information. Is there a website that provides specific details on the preferred stock? It sure would be nice to have some assistance with these securities.

      4 Stocks in Trouble
      Mark,

Thanks for the article; however, as I view the chart for mos and cf, I notice that both have seen a pattern of dropping below the 50dma before moving back up again. With this in mind, it looks like this is normal. At least I hope so.

Perfect Oil Storm Brewing in the U.S.
Eric, I understand the logic of your article, but have to wonder how low demand will drop before it stabilizes and then starts its journey ever higher?

I have heard that demand is 87m barrels vs 85m in supply. Can you give me an estimation of where you see demand in barrels going to in short and medium term?

The Long Case for General Steel Holdings
GSI just reported their 1st quarter earnings. Very Disappointing. Price has dropped down to $8.26 and looks to drop further.

Just curious what your thought are now on GSI. Their sales appear to be doing fine, but earnings is much more elusive. Love to hear your comments.

      Is Oil Bubbling Over?
I don't know about you, but I am upset at the U.S. automakers for not being prepared for high fuel prices and the demand for high mileage vehicles. If they had a line of high mileage vehicles and cars like the toyota prius, it could be the start to getting us out of this poor economy we are going thru.

They have had years to get ready, but for some reason, they have been focused on SUV, etc, rather than preparing for what people are going to need in the future.

I look at Toyota, Honda, Nissan and they are really getting their act together and we can't even copy what they are doing. I am Mad!
