Lehman, JP Morgan Weigh in on Newly-Formed Sirius XM Radio
163888 - my intention was not to insult, but to take a step back and gain some perspective. Everyone's is entitled to their opinion - without both sides of the same coin to balance each other out, you'd just be hearing more and more of the same positive stuff, with nothing negative to keep it in check. As much as i want to score big on SIRI like everyone else, it makes me wonder how most of us got hammered by this stock.

My take on it is that we were victims of groupthink. Voices of dissent and different opinions were frowned upon and accused of being misleading and deceptive shorts. The bottom line is: they were right in the short-term, whether or not they engineered the outcome. Long-term, I think we win the war.

Lehman, JP Morgan Weigh in on Newly-Formed Sirius XM Radio
I was hoping for additional large share purchases by insiders (Directors, Howard, Oprah, etc.) Would have been perfect today, just before earnings. Or maybe they're waiting for Friday and next week. They should try and time it so that each day, someone new ponies up personal money to buy shares in a show of confidence.

Anyone think MK is planning on turning the "synergies" win, into a triple win? By that I mean:

      1) $400M = WIN (everyone knows and expects this)
      2) $400M+ = WIN (boost synergy numbers during conference call)
      3) $400M++ = WIN (actual results next year)

Opinions from both ends of the spectrum and everything in between is the best way to be informed and make your own decisions. Otherwise we get caught up in "groupthink"... With all the fingerpointing and bashing going on, I value anything intelligent anyone has to say on this thread and many others. Tyler, Cos1000, 163888, Vicar, etc. - you all have valid points and have illuminated this industry and stock from all sorts of different angles that I never would have thought of myself. Thanks to all.

Sirius / SM Merger Finally Approved - And It Only Took 493 Days!
I foresee a future where the iPhone / iPod takes over the automobile industry as the device of choice. I wouldn't doubt if it's the next logical step in Steve Jobs' master plan. I'm confident that it will have a satellite receiver built-in for real-time GPS and mapping, and also for streaming SatRadio. Retail and OEM equipment will always be around, but the iPhone will be an unprecedented distribution platform for SatRad.

People could have SatRad, Internet radio, their iPod library, Pandora, etc. in their pockets and their cars. They can listen to whatever they're in the mood for at any given time. If they wanna listen to preimum SatRad content, they'll need a subscription. That doesn't mean everyone's going to sign up immediately, but the sheer volume increase in accessibility is a numbers game that favors a boost in subscriptions.

Piggy-backing off the success of Apple's innovation is a win/win, if SatRad and Apple can form some sort of partnership to link iTunes with SatRad artists and come up with creative business incentives to cooperate. I'm sure there's plenty of money to be made on both sides. As has been stated by many intelligent posters previously: SatRad is about content, not technology - CONTENT IS KING, and consumers are willing to pay for it...

Just my speculation for the not so distant future (3-5 years)... As much as I want to unload my block and get out, I think I might hold for a long, long, long time... ;o)

10 years from now, it's gonna be like one of those Motley Fool ads proclaiming "if you had invested in SIRI in July of 2008, you'd be up a gazillion % and your initial investment of $10K would be worth $250M!!!"

Good luck everyone - let the games begin!

      Sirius: Post-Merger Guidance
Are we going to hear about a potential vote before it happens, or is it going to simply show up as a headline at some point that the merger was(not) approved?

Goldman's Sirius Call: Solid Thesis, Poor Timing
I like the contrasting points of view - gets me thinking in-depth from all sides. It's necessary for a balanced and rational personal point of view. How can you maintain a balanced perspective if you're leaning too far either way? It's easy to get caught up in the rhetoric on both sides. Thanks to all for their analysis and comments...

Cramer Doesn't Say What Radio Stockholders Want to Hear
I sold half my stake at $1.95, with the intention of scooping it up again at $1.85 sometime on Monday. I may not get that chance if something good happens over the weekend. Either way, I feel better cutting my exposure in half - the negative volatility over the past few months have been nearly intolerable.

cos1000 - I agree with you that if nothing happens over the weekend, I wouldn't be surprised to see it dip back down either. If I can scoop 'em up again at $1.85, I'll be sitting on average cost of $2.10, which I'm highly comfortable with...

Even though we've seen some resistance at $1.80, if there's more intentional FCC delay, I think it could dip down even further ($1.50 - $1.75?) and trade in this channel until there's a decision. The longer this drags out, the more neurotic everyone gets with the uncertainty and the more people start jumpin' ship...

I mentioned something about this a couple weeks back - this guy went into a lot more detail though. Good to know there are others out there thinking outside the box and recognizing potential game-changing variables other than the current merger nonsense.

Where’s the Bottom for Satellite Radio Stocks?
Someone needs to put together a viral, pro-merger youtube video clip exposing the FCC, political agendas, merits of the merger and undeniable benefits and upside of this stock. Basically take everything we've been talking about for the past year+, including Cramer, FCC, Weinke, Karmazin, blogs, etc. A 5-10 minute clip should suffice - perhaps a "Michael-Moore-le... type production. Watch it catch fire on the Internet, Digg, news portals, myspace, facebook, etc. Public awareness and subsequent pressure on the necessary parties to do the right thing.

I'm surprised Mel and Co. haven't looked into this. If they don't, someone should...

Sirius Satellite Radio is Seriously Undervalued
By the time this merger goes through, the subscription fee of $6.99 will be equal to the price of one gallon of gasoline. OK, so maybe I'm exaggerating, but siriusly: a one-month subscription for awesome content for $6.99? If anything, I think high gas prices illuminate how inexpensive SatRad really is. It's a pack of cigarettes. It's 1.5 gallons of gas. It's a mediocre sandwich at my office cafeteria. It's 3.5 shares of SIRI. I mean for real, yo. I don't think subscription prices will deter much of anything once potential consumers put it in perspective and realize how trivial it is, relative to the total cost of living.

I only have 10K shares and I'm down $5K+ in the past 5 days - I can't even imagine those with huge blocks of 100K shares or more. You guys have balls of steel...

Anyone else thinking conspiracy theory? As in: the bigBoyz are unloading their positions because they know something we don't, like the merger isn't getting approved and K-Mart is just going through the motions to make it look like he's trying to do the right thing for the consumer, knowing full well he doesn't have the necessary votes?

Or is the general consensus that SIRI is being hammered so "GS & Friends" can jump back in for irresistible profits at the expense of us lil guys? Could it be that GS sincerely believes their assessment? Common sense tells me if they ARE being sincere, then they're simply wrong. I don't think "incompetent"... is fair because everyone is entitled to their opinion, if it's genuine...

Positive Radio Merger Outcome About Two Weeks Away
What are the chances of a company like MSFT swooping in and buying a company like SIRI/XMSR as a trojan horse into the satellite/auto/content industry? I know they have Sync in Fords, but seems like it could be a remote possibility as devices and industries converge and overlap. I mean if iPods are competing with satellite radios, wouldn't it be in Microsoft's interest to see that SatRad succeeds, or at least get their fingers in the pie like they do with everything else? I think Ballmer and Co. should swoop in with a modest premium offer that will bail all us lil guys out that are taking a beating from this market manipulation. It's pocket change to them :o)
