AAPL's Time For Greatness Is Now
All I know is that when my wife and I visit 2-3 different shopping malls over the course of a few months that have an APPLE store, it is ALWAYS the most crowded store in the place. I mean packed with people. I am in the New York - Connecticut area.

Major Yahoo Shareholder Demands Vote Recount
First, I received Yahoo's first proxy and voted to reject the board using the internet site.
Second, I received another set of proxy material, which I ignored because I had already voted.
Third, I received another set of proxy material shortly before the shareholder meeting date. I did not understand what the heck was going on with these mailings.
Now, I doubt if my first vote over the internet was even counted.
      Another Yahoo! boondoggle.

      Sirius XM's Long Road
Why can't Sirius XM begin to run paid commercials during non-music programs?

I notice that the radio shows that Sirius XM programs that are direct from cable or AM band all have gaps of time because they need to run paid commercials. When this happens, Sirius XM makes non-paid announcements to fill in those minutes. For example, I listen to CNBC (127) and Fox Business News (128) channels. These two programs regularly run their own paid commercials. Sirius uses this time to make non-paid announcements about their own program schedules. Since these gaps of time must be filled, why not offer commercial advertising time for which payment will be made. Sirius XM could still boast that they offer non commercial music programming and that a certain percentage of their programming is commercial free.

      Barron's Banks on $100 Oil
I thought at the time gasoline prices rose to $1.00 a gallon that we Americans would do what was necessary to wean ourselves off of the financial strangulation of buying Middle Eastern oil. We became complacent and paid the $1.00 per gallon. Again, I was quite confident that we Americans would bite the bullet and realize that we need to reduce our addiction to Middle Eastern oil when a gallon of gasoline rose to $3.00. I was wrong again! This scenario may be play out in similar fashion. The price for a gallon of gasoline will drop under $4.00. We Americans will be so relieved. Within a year or two, $4.00 will be the accepted base and we will continue with our complacent ways of allowing ourselves to be financially strangled and squeezed of our hard earned money. To paraphrase POGO, we have indeed met the enemy, and it is us!

Blodget Thinks eBay Looks Cheap; We Disagree
Ebay has been a miracle for many people who are able to sell household items that have been sitting in garages, cellars, and closets for years collecting dust. It continues to be a viable selling medium for the flea market and collectible seller and buyer. Because of Ebay, a collector (buyer/seller) no longer has the need to drive miles to attend an antique or collectible show to buy or sell. Additionally, prices for many goods are selling lower due to the market forces at hand. Items that were once considered difficult to obtain or "rare" are now easily available and in reach due to Ebay's world wide reach. Is Ebay pricing itself too richly forcing sellers to ply their items elsewhere? Perhaps in some instances this is true. However, those other sites do not offer the world wide market for customers that Ebay offers. What I would like to see is Ebay offer its sellers an annual flat rate for selling with a small commission once the item sells. This could smooth out their earnings projections and estimates over the quarters. Right now, Ebay is the only good game in town with the other sites treading water.

Icahn: Smart, Dumb, or Just Plain Screwed?
What would I do if I were Mr. Icahn?
      1) Continue to move toward replacing the board. Since we shareholders are so angry at the way the Yahoo! board handled this that some of us may be happy with circus clowns as replacements.
      2) Gain full control of the company.
      3) Split the company into parts selling off each to the highest bidder.
