      Broadcom Enters FTTH Chipset Market
Great article, interesting move by BRCM. Iamba BTW, citing cash problems due to the slower than expected ramp of the GPON programs, just reduced their head count to a basic 15 while looking for new financing or a partner to be acquired. With the BRCM announcement I now believe the latter is more likely to happen. Now, who could be interested in GPON technology on the block? Marvell, but wait why not Cavium? Taro

Inside the Apple/PA Semi Deal: Micro and Macro Perspectives
One possible option not mentioned here: Didn't Google design their own servers to keep up with the demands of their network? I could easily imagine Jobs not thinking any smaller than Google and the superb design team of PA could most likely help him design a back bone easily meeting or beating the Google foundation. Maybe we'll see him playing in the elite league of Microsoft and Google in a not too distant future.

Texas Instruments Earnings Analysis: Hold Recommendation
With T.I. being the .65µ (latest designs .45µ) PA Semi fab, T.I. silicon making into the iPhone could become a possibility.

Apple Thrusts Ahead on Convergence by Acquiring PA Semi
I actually wrote this msg yesterday. In the meantime we know about the possible complications coming from PA's involvement in several defense programs. Maybe their fab (T.I.) bails them out here? In theory if having access to all the tools they could produce the existing product. Taro

Aplle is not taking any PA products to market, Jobs is too smart for that. The current line of processors will be retired and this wizard design team used for captive tiny footprint SoC designs only.
I wouldn't feel too good holding Samsung too close to my heart either: Very smart move, AAPL no doubt plans on taking a future lead in the mobile communications market. Taro76w
