The Global Reach of the First Million 3G iPhones
Does it even matter? The numbers let you "believe" what you want to believe. JRR Tolkien said we all have our own myths --- which won't change even if the data (facts) change).

Much more interesting is to see what they roll out just before school starts -- most likely a two-finger touch screen iMac, making the mouse optional, and one less item to have to ship with new iMacs.

Mid-Caps Are Outperforming Large- and Small-Caps
      Nano-cap: < $50M
      Micro-cap: $50M - $250M
      Small-cap: $250M - $2B
      Mid-cap: $2B - $10B
      Large-cap (blue-chip): > $10B

Lots of drillers in the mid-cap range.

As Global Demand Rises, Oil Production Remains Flat
Every time Congress gets involved, it's another debacle (think ethanol; think no drilling for 30 years -- Congress can override President's action; think no nuclear for 30 years. And increased regulation of investing: the investors ("speculators&quo... whoever they are) will move to London and Dubai. If you want to see your portfolio take a huge fall -- greater than what it already has -- make your manager sell all oil-related holdings per Congressional mandate. If you think the free-fall in your portfolio has been bad so far, wait until your fund has to sell its oil-related holdings. Oh, did I already say that?

Apple Imitations: Just Like the iPhone, Only Crappier
Absolutely correct (about everyone else just knocking off Apple). Am I the only who thinks Bill Gates's interviews are unbelievably vacuous. Remember, without that liberal arts education, during formative years, it eventually comes back to haunt you. Steve Jobs, no diploma, but a full liberal -- and very liberal -- arts exposure. Go, Steve, Go.

      Motorola: Dead Company Walking?
"According to reports, our current CEO does not even use email. " I don't know if that's accurate, but I am amazed at the number of millionaire investors/CEOs who are over the age of 65 etc, who don't use e-mail -- or at least are reported not to. But I am amazed at how fast a good company can go bad.

The Hidden Financial Impact of Apple's iPhone
"I am absolutely confounded that Apple is not trading at well over $200 share right now" -- don't be confounded. 1) the whole market is down; 2) few analysts have ever taken Apple seriously (see back issues of BusinessWeek, Forbes); 3) too many conservative investors are in the game and with no dividend to hedge their bet, these investors won't buy AAPL. If you are long, these factors are your gain, their loss.

Oil Bubble Breaking? Barron's Outlines the Case, But the Argument is Weak
Could Michael Levy tell us who these speculators are? And then how we manage the "speculator problem." This whole thing is a real quandary for me also -- i've been following the oil business for 30 years and I can't explain the high price -- it makes no sense. Demand for oil did not double in the past year; there is plenty of crude oil around. But for some reason people are willing to pay $4/gallon for gasoline in the US and $8/gallon for diesel and gasoline in Europe. But I still don't get it. But Congressional policy of a) stopping all exploration in the US; and b) taxing the oil companies doesn't make any sense. But, as I ramble, ask yourself what the price of crude might be if US pulls out of Iraq, and you might have your answer. And, of course, that's the Democratic leadership plan -- to pull out of Iraq as quickly as possible, d... the consequences.

The Great Oil Deception: Part Two
I guess you must be correct. In Saudi Arabia where oil almost comes out of the ground is as expensive as drilling for oil under the ocean. No, that can't be right. Explain your thesis to me again. Was this published on April Fool's Day?

Ballmer Is Bad News for Microsoft
Ballmer missed the importance of the Internet!? Excuse me. MSFT's missing the Internet goes back to Bill Gates. Steve Jobs eliminated the floppy disc to extent possible, knowing that a) floppies brought viruses into the schools; and, b) the internet was how folks would share information -- not through floppies. But yet, every PC that Gates wrote software for included floppies. Every stage of the way, Steve Jobs was eliminating legacy memory devices.....
