  • Transocean: Drilling For Profits
All these positive comments are scary in its unison. One big storm wiping out an entire rig and killing the crew will take the stock below 100. This is a tough/risky business. Thanks to 'Thinking Ahead' for pointing out their commitment to training and human reserve development. I am a holder of rig for the past 2 yrs. and do not plan to sell anytime soon. But always - beware!

  • Oilsands Quest: What's in a Name?
The commentaries are worth more (better) than the articel.
Look at their cash position and figure how long they will last.

  • 5 Reasons to Buy Holly Corporation
Good articel by Rosenman. How and when the political ramifications will play out with ethanol is an unknown. It'll probably take more food riots and chaos.
To wheels 14 I'd say: Go and tell a starving mob that you burn tons of corn in your SUV to go sight seeing - you'll get lynched/exterminated.

  • Insider Trends in the Financial Sector
In my experience insider buying is a treacherous indicator that needs a lot of verification and deeper digging. Look at TMA. Chairman and CEO bought millions of shares at $20 just before it tanked to now $ 1.50, etc. etc. - Funny - Rahmatulla quotes the biggest banks with the least visibility/disclosures... I am with Wilbur Ross who publicly stated he is looking for small banks with a strong and growing cheap depositor base.

  • With Oil Service, Engineering and Construction, McDermott is an Ideal Hybrid
High volatility. Recent insider sales in the $ 52-$55 area
Scarcity of qualified labor. Huge material and labor cost increases.
RIG operates in negotiated day rate LT contracts.
MDR on yesterday's signed bid. That's what kept me from buying MDR. Good article - I'll take another look.

  • I Love Fertilizer Stocks, but...
Doesn't this constant in and out of a stock (to protect your gains or cut your losses) put you somewhat in the league of the 'day traders' you so loathe? I am with 'Real Grit'. Also for some of us poor 'retail investors' there are tax consequences to consider

  • Investing in the Marcellus Shale
Thank You for sharing some incredible, valuable info.
After doing all the reading I possibly can, I am often frustrated by the superficial intelligence displayed. Maybe I'm tapping the wrong channels. Also I can not get enthused about alternative energy at this point. (example:Europe is destroying it's natural beauty by placing millions of huge windmills all over the landscape.) Looking forward to your future posts.

  • Why Is Diesel More Expensive Than Regular Gas?
I think maxbid got it exactly right. And the government is supporting this crime by extra taxing diesel vs. gasoline. The US is just a "Holy Island" to close to the Allmighty to worry about simple economics.
Let the Europeans be rational, not us.

  • Taseko Mines: Copper Mega-Growth Story, Par Excellence
I don't understand the volatility in this stock. Who is running it up and down 20% and more in a weeks time? I met w. mgmt. several times in mining conferences and am impressed - good story. I am a LT holder and buyer under $3.80
