Be Careful How You Criticize
Nobody is perfect. If you have employees, obviously, they are going to make mistakes, and while the situation can be frustrating, you need to be able to give criticism without demoralizing the employee. There is a fine line between constructive and destructive criticism. Here are some tips on how to keep to the constructive side.
1) Before talking to the employee, sit down and think about the situation. Analyze your own state of mind, and make sure to cool off before speaking. Recognize that you may not know the full story, and try to approach the situation from the employee's point of view.
2) Use the "sandwich method." Start the discussion by complementing the employee's performance or character. Then, succinctly and directly give the criticism, making sure that he or she understands how to rectify the situation, and finally, end with another positive remark.
3) Plan what you're going to say, and be sure that the discussion has a clear path. Ask questions, and allow the employee to respond, while making sure that your point is clear.

I think I'd have to agree with the poster above. You've got clever and experienced people on your team. Your tips should provide greater insight than a fortune cookie.

It's Great you all are interested in commenting on these thoughts.
Good ideas are always good to hear. And remember, you'll recognize faults that you personally have within you.
The tip was far more valuable than your comments.
But thanks for taking the time to make an effort.

I found the Tips worthwhile, wish I could say the say for some of the negative comments which of course, do not speak for everyone.
