Tip For Opening a Brokerage Account

Fidelity is currently running a worthwhile promotion -- $100 for new accounts that deposit $10,000 to start. All things being equal, we prefer deep discount online brokerages (like Ameritrade and E*Trade) to the Fidelities and Vanguards of the 'net, but Fidelity does offer great portfolio management software, customer service, research, and, for high net worth clients, low commissions.

There's no annual fee at Fidelity, and you can exit this deal (keeping your c-note) after 6 months. And with $100 to start, you've gained 1% on your investments before you've even begun!
