Sell Backend Products (Part II)

Selling backend products is a must for online businesses. The question is: which ones? You don't want to lose money on a stock of products that nobody buys. Here are some suggestions for figuring out the type of backend products your business should sell.

1) Sell products that complement your original product. For example, someone who wants peanut butter may also want to buy jelly.

2) Offer supplementary products. Microsoft initially created an operating system and then began offering applications that ran only on their operating system.

3) Sell information about your product. Market yourself as an expert, and write an e-book or create a video on a topic related to your product.

4) Push upgrades and refills. If customers like your product, they'll want more of it, particularly if it's new and improved.

5) Sell someone else's product. Advertise their product for them in exchange for a percentage of the sale. You don't have to spend any time or money developing a new product, but you still earn money whenever you make a sale.
