Advertise Cheaply
Whether you're starting a new business or expanding an old one, finding customers is essential. Unfortunately, most of us don't have as large of an advertising budget as we would like. Here are some suggestions for cheap and effective advertisements.
1) Organize events around your business. Offer your services as a speaker in local schools, colleges, or business organizations, or organize workshops around your product. This will get your face known and promote you as an expert in your field.
2) Participate in community events. If you help sponsor them, they will often give you free advertising or let you distribute promotional materials.
3) Take advantage of co-op advertising. Manufacturers set aside money to help retailers advertise. Manufacturers want retailers to succeed so that retailers will increase their demand for the manufacturers' products.
4) Submit your website to search engines. Potential customers seeking goods and services will often start their searches on the internet. If search engines pass you by, you'll be losing out on many potential customers. Some of the best engines for submissions are Inktomi (which supplies results to many portals including MSN and AOL), PositionTech.com, AltaVista, Yahoo!, Open Directory, Google, and All The Web.
