Minimize the Burden of High Gas Prices
High gas prices got you down? Large companies can buy financial contractors to lock in their fuel prices, but the steadily increasing gas prices can be a major expense to small businesses. Here are some strategies for coping with high fuel prices.
1) Build the added cost into your pricing. Be sure to tell your clients the reason for the price hike. Everyone knows that gas prices are increasing, and most people will sympathize with your situation.
2) Charge for fuel as a separate cost. For example, if your business includes delivery, charge for it. Many companies that used to include free delivery changed this policy to a $1 delivery fee. This extra charge is still less than it would cost your customer to drive back and forth but will help reduce your burden.
3) You can also be more energy efficient and plan your errands to minimize driving.
