Get Free Travel Guides

Traveling can be a lot of fun if you know where to go and what to do. You could go to a bookstore and buy fancy travel guides with glossy photos that you'll probably never look at once you've taken your own pictures, or you could save a couple of bucks and get some free travel guides.

1) Travelinformation.com offers free travel guides for those traveling in the US and Canada. Choose guides from a variety of regions. Then, give the website your mailing address, and they will mail you your guides.

2) Wikitravel, a sister website to Wikipedia, includes information about 16,380 destinations all over the world. The site contains information about transportation, sites, activities, food, nightlife, hotels and more. Admittedly, it lacks a lot of information about remote locations, but it is very useful for popular destinations. The site also features phrasebooks and itineraries.

3) AAA doesn't just provide roadside assistance. It is also a great travel resource. It offers driving directions, guide books, flight bookings, deals and more. You can receive many of these services online without being a member, or if you are a member, you can meet with an agent at your local AAA branch.
