Go Gadget Crazy
Even if you're not going to buy everything new that's out there (like the one-bladed fan in the picture), it is fun to window shop (virtually, that is). The best gadget sites are always trying to outdo each other with the earliest news of the most outrageous toys (useful and otherwise). If you must be first on your block to have the latest toys, these are the sites to visit:
1) Wired's Gadget Lab Blog – From the newest, skinniest laptops, to a bicycle built for hauling, Wired is on top of what's new. Straightforward writing and informative.
2) Engadget – Has fun with some of the gadgets. The latest here? A watch phone and a 100-meter liquid mirror telescope to go on the moon.
3) Gizmodo – From the world of Denton media. This site takes gadgets to the logically extreme conclusion and features the wackiest of the wacky. Hot on the site now (and a fun one, too): an ice tray with shapes of classic guitars to keep your drinks cold and your own self cool this summer. At only $9, it's one of the cheapest items on any of these sites.
4) Gadgetroad – A little too “me, too,” and not quite as funny as the other sites. But it also seems to find gadgets no one else has.
5) Everything USB – You would think it would be too specialized, because virtually everything on the site comes with a USB plug to attach to your computer, but you would be amazed at what that includes, these days.
