Buy Your LCD TV Now (Or Else...)
Prices for flat-screen TV's have been dropping for the last year, and they are now within most peoples' ranges. But you've put off buying a new set until now, figuring that prices would continue to drop. Should you continue to wait, expecting further price drops?
Not according to a new story on Wired News, which said the price of wholesale LCD flat panels “has recently reached its lowest point and rebounded,” according to new market research data from iSuppli. According to Wired, you can kiss retail price cuts goodbye when the product's most expensive single component starts getting more expensive.
Don't expect prices to start rising – at least not until next year's models come out, Wired predicts. So, how much do 32-inch LCD TV's cost right now? A story we quoted just a few weeks ago put the average price for such a screen at $1,136. With little effort we found one for less than $600. Not a bad deal.
