Search Elsewhere - Beyond the Big G
Google doesn't do it for you? Do 10,000,000 results, including ads and others that “game” the system wear you out? Google isn't the only search engine in town – far from it.
Always helpful and interesting website Read/Write Web monthly compiles a list of alternative search engines, with their specialties. We recently found TheFind.com for shopping. Here are a few more from R/WW's newest list:
1. Blinkx.com – Searches videos and podcasts. Cool interface. Works quickly.
2. Local.com – Local product and services search when you add in a Zip code
3. Pagebull.com – Uses Yahoo search, but provides images of found sites' homepages. Very cool.
4. Mojeek.com – Claims to be (and seems to be) pure, unfiltered search. Results are quite different from Google.
5. Pipl.com – Amazing search engine for information on people. Look yourself up – it's amazing what you'll find.
Bonus: Search leader Google knows of all these sites (and many more, of course), and is not going to sit still. Several sites have shown what appear to be Google search results in a new look and design.
