Tip on Making Money with Blogs and Widgets
It just got even easier to make money from blogs, according to David Jackson. How to build a money-making site uses the combination of Web Widgets (chunks of code that can be installed into any HTML-based web page, that can direct users to useful links which don’t require subsequent manual updating) and the revenue-generating Google AdSense. Jackson offers proof, in the form of a site for Apple fans that took him only a few hours to build and requires no further maintenance. Not only is it fast and easy to do, but with a bit of knowledge almost anyone can make it happen. Get started making FREE money with these easy-to-follow steps:
1. Buy a URL – You know what they say; you’ve got to spend money to make money. First things first, you’ve got to buy a URL for your new page.
2. Set up a Widget – Jackson used a Feedsweep Widget, which displays headlines from the feeds you choose to showcase on your site. If you opt to go this route, it’s worth noting that the value of your site will depend on your ability to find and aggregate a number of useful feeds and to focus on the usability of the site. It’s even easier to use a pre-configured widget, and there are many to choose from. Check out Seeking Alpha’s set via Musestorm to get started.
3. Pick a Platform – Blogging platforms like TypePad make it easy to reuse the same sidebar elements on multiple blogs. The next step is to set up your platform with the widget as the only post.
4. Add in AdSense – Add in a sidebar that contains Google AdSense Ads and presto! You’ve created a genuinely useful site that never needs updating and generates AdSense revenue!
5. A Word of Warning - Jackson warns that sites that are purely automated aggregators may be of limited value (unless you can find really high quality RSS feeds), so it may be worth your while to check in every once in awhile. That said, even if a widget-blog RSS mash up is of limited value, it could still generate a constant trickle of AdSense revenue. And a lot of them could generate a lot of trickles...

You're basically promoting MFA (made-for-adsense) sites, which not only is a questionable practice, but also considered spam. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
Junger, I don't think these are scraper sites because
(a) the goal is not to generate search engine traffic -- just showing headlines via a widget won't get you indexed by search engines,
(b) you're trying to build genuinely useful sites by mashing up RSS feeds for users. The value you add is in finding and combining RSS feeds for specifc interest groups. And the content owners should love it, as you drive traffic to them.
Take a look at Apple Dashboard and let me know what you think:

Made for Adsense sites (scraper sites, if you will) don't have a goal of increasing SEO -- they're made to make money off of other people's work. It's cheap.
AppleDashboard looks pretty much like a scraper site to me.
To me the basic issue here is - why are you aggregating content and displaying on your blog? You have made the argument that people should aggregate and display IN ORDER to make money from adsense. This is just gaming the system. Seeking Alpha should be ashamed of suggesting it as a legitimate business practice, it is not.
I think it's ok, since monetising a blog and other related internet marketing practices are considered legitimate and profitable at the same time. There are many ways to make money, especially with the internet, no more restricting to stocks and property.
